Efficacy of Iris-transobturator Tape Procedure for Female Mixed Urinary Incontinence and Genuine Stress Urinary Incontinence
Han Dong-Seok

Abstract
Purpose: We assessed the efficacy of the Iris-TOT (transobturator tape) procedure which was the newly developed method to decrease complications of TVT (tension-free vaginal tape) procedure in women with mixed urinary incontinence (MUI) and genuine stress urinary incontinence (GSUI).

Materials and Methods : From September 2005 to February 2007, 55 patients with stress urinary incontinence
(34 : MUI, 21 : GSUI) were operated and evaluated for postoperative success rate, change of voiding symptoms and
withdrawal rate of anticholinergic medication, retrospectively.

Results: Mean age, parity, average incontinence period, cystocele grade, rectocele grade, symptom grade, associated urgency, Q-tip, VLPP (valsalva leak point pressure), urodynamic parameter and IPSS (international prostate symptom score), pattern of voiding diary and operation time were similar in both group. Success rate of MUI group and
GSUI group were 88% and 100%, respectively (p£¼0.05). There were no difference of postoperative changes of the uroflowmetry and voiding diary parameter between two groups. Withdrawal rate of anticholinergic medication was significantly higher in GSUI group than MUI group (p = 0.02).

Conclusion: Iris-TOT procedure alone was more effective in women with GSUI than with MUI. Multidisciplinary
approach to the treatment of MUI would be necessary.
